1 position in Dunhuang, China working for the Academy which protects, restores, and showcases the Mogao Caves, a cultural gem of the Silk Road and a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Fellow will work to translate English copy for scholarly research, host English salons to train tour guides, and conduct tours of the Mogao Caves. Flexibility and willingness to explore new tasks with little direction will be required. Experience with Mandarin and a passion for Chinese art history are also required. Fellows will get the chance to see what goes on “behind the scenes” to restore and preserve the grottoes. Fellows should be prepared to be immersed in a small desert city and should be comfortable with isolation. Housing is provided. Position begins in September.
