1-2 positions in Mumbai working with an independent, economic development-focused think/do tank to investigate and facilitate India’s transition from a low-income, state-led country to a prosperous market-based economy. The institute provides in-depth, actionable research and recommendations that are grounded in a contextual understanding of the political economy of execution to key government officials and agencies across India. The Fellow will work with a talented team of multidisciplinary researchers on multiple live research projects across the themes of urbanization, criminal justice system, electoral functioning and reforms, etc. Preference will be given to candidates with intermediate to advanced knowledge of GIS, open-source statistical software packages (R, Python, etc.), and the application of data analyses in policy research. However, other skill sets such as communications and content creation (in the context of a think tank) may be considered. Familiarity with the Indian economy and politics is beneficial. Travel around India and long hours may be required. The institute’s office is located in Bandra, Mumbai’s trendiest neighborhood where one will find a thriving business community alongside old-world bungalows that are home to some of India’s most beloved Bollywood stars, cricket players, and politicians. Positions begin in August.
