Rory Truex

Rory Truex is enjoying his second summer as a PiA intern in rural China. This past year, he has worked with PiA to create Summer of Service, a new English Immersion program in Jishou, China taught entirely by Princeton undergraduates. Currently, the program reaches out to 150 under privileged university students of minority backgrounds.  Thanks to the generosity of alumni and the support of PiA, the program is going as well as possible. Rory has enjoyed hearing their many stories and learning their perspectives on human rights, dating, and Britney Spears. Highlights of the summer include a devastating loss to the local middle school's basketball team, learning Kungfu at the Shaolin monastery (home of Jackie Chan and Jet Li), and teaching a nightly rap class for students in the program.  If you'd like to read more about SoS and follow the program's activities, check out the blog at:
