Elona Toska

February 22, 2006

The moment red socialist flags adorned each and every single building in Laos to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the one and only Pathet Lao, Elona wondered if she should stay a second year in her position with PSI/Laos given her affinity for all things red.  Once she inherited a male cat called Miranda and was assured she can continue teaching yoga in English to a group of adorable Lao women/men, the decision was made.  Having written more than once over her senior thesis in reports and proposals for PSI projects on HIV and malaria prevention, she tends to start speaking in sentences that contain only acronyms, so she will dedicate this second year to the establishment of AFWA- The Acronym-Free World Association.  When not writing blurbs as witty and esoteric as this, Elona is working with Population Services International on public health issues in Vientiane, Laos as a second year PiA fellow.
