Lucy Hornby

September 22, 2005

Having never even heard Mandarin until she boarded an Air China flight two weeks after graduation, Lucy Hornby initially thought that nine months in an automotive university in Wuhan would be about as long as she could take. Ten years later, she's in Shanghai, reporting for Reuters.  In the years between, she's lived in Beijing, Singapore and New York, but always felt like a citizen of Greater PiA. "The get-togethers are the best – I’m reinvigorated by everyone’s stories and enthusiasm, and I envy the newest interns for the great year ahead of them."  This summer, she  limped down the endless stairs of Huangshan and discovered three PiA interns sitting at a rest area. For Lucy, that sums up Princeton-in-Asia -- the unexpected, friendly faces waiting at the bottom of the mountain.
