Emily Grande

May 22, 2006

In search of adventure, Emily Grande turned to Princeton in Asia and found herself teaching English in Kwangju, South Korea.  Kwangju is Korea’s ancient capital and is dotted with thousand year-old royal tombs, sprawling temples, traditional Korean tea houses, and, you guessed it, McDonald’s, Popeye’s, KFC and Baskin Robbins.  Wanting to give the local cuisine a chance, Emily steered clear of the American food and fell in love with Korean fare.  Topping her list of favorites is Kimchi stew, a mix of kimchi, onions, pork and tofu in a spicy red broth.  Emily still makes kimchi stew about once a month in Chicago, where she is currently in law school.  If you would like a recipe for making kimchi stew in less than thirty minutes, you can email her at elgrande@alumni.princeton.edu.This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
