Cody Griggers

December 22, 2005

Growing up on a ranch in the middle of rural Texas, miles – no, make that hours – away from anything resembling a major city, Cody Griggers would have never imagined that years later, he’d feel right at home in the midst of Bangkok's eight-lane traffic jams, eight-story shopping malls, eight-legged appetizers, eight-hour rainstorms and eight-syllable street names. Now in the fourth year of his torrid love affair with Thailand, Cody first came to Chiang Mai as a PiA fellow in 2001 to teach literature at Payap University. Two years later, he moved to Bangkok to work as a communications consultant for the Thai government’s Board of Investment. Today, Cody works for Keen Publishing & Media, creating design concepts for NGO publications and formulating communications strategies with various UN agencies.  He credits PiA for lighting a fire he didn’t know he had within him, for teaching him that challenges are just reasons to try harder, and most of all, for giving him a clear direction in life – East.
