Insurance Information

Health Insurance: Houston Casualty Corp Medical Insurance Services (HCCMIS) (www.hccmis.com)

Princeton in Asia provides group medical insurance for fellows who are not covered adequately through their host institution or do not have current insurance through their parents. If you have a pre-existing condition, please note that any care related to this condition may not be covered under PiA’s insurance policy. It may be advisable to remain on your current health policy, if possible. If you remain on your current policy, make sure it covers medical care abroad and offers medical evacuation coverage. PiA can arrange for medical evacuation coverage if your policy does not. Please be sure to talk with PiA about your health insurance situation before departing for Asia if you have any questions.

PiA's policy is called Atlas. It is brokered through Houston Casualty Corp and is underwritten by Lloyd's of London. In addition to health coverage, it provides some very helpful services you can use (lost passport assistance, emergency cash transfer, lost luggage tracking, pre-departure information on political, health and safety situations, emergency message relay). The brochure for the policy is available here and it is very important that you understand the coverage provided. Please make sure you read and understand the insurance policy and the exclusions. You are responsible for making sure you follow the insurance's claim provisions properly, for informing the home office of your departure, for double-checking that you are enrolled on the right dates and for ensuring that you do not engage in activities that are uninsured.

In summary, your health and safety come first and are our #1 priority. So please be aware of the insurance's benefits, limitations and procedures.
