Fellowship Year:
Banda Aceh

Annie Preis graduated from Princeton in 2007 with a degree in religion, a certificate in theater and a whole lot of people smiling and nodding while muttering something about how it would have been nice if she had studied something practical. She showed all the nay-sayers by signing on with PiA, moving to Khon Kaen, Thailand and teaching English--which OBVIOUSLY had to include producing a student production of the musical Grease and visiting lots of temples. In her second year with PiA, she moved on to Banda Aceh, Indonesia to work with the government on its post-conflict programming and is now stretching her questionable employment status a few months longer as a Carriebright fellow, working with a local Acehnese organization to carry out a series of public speaking and communication trainings for women leaders in conflict-affected districts.
