Jessica Illaszewicz began her PiA experience with a summer internship in northeast Thailand. Her 2002 internship whet Jess’s appetite for spicy food, charades, and mysterious bug bites. It was inevitable that she return to PiA two years later to work for the World Conservation Union (IUCN), first in Thailand and then Vietnam. After her 2005 fellowship, she then joined forces with another recent PiA/IUCN alum, Ted James, on an overland journey from Hanoi to Paris. The amazing adventure features three weeks in China exploiting the hospitality of the wonderful PiA fellows there. Currently, Jess is about to begin working for an environmental consulting firm in New Jersey. Virtually next door to PiA headquarters, she has become a regular visitor and nuisance. Jess thanks PiA not only for opening the world to her (twice!), but also for letting her come back for more.
